On November 9, 1989, the wall came down in Berlin.
On November 8, 2009 it went back up again — in Los Angeles.
The Wall Project originally commemorated the 20th anniversary of the day the Berlin Wall came down. Today, these ten segments of the Berlin Wall make up the largest section of the wall outside of Germany, and they are free for you to visit right here in LA on Wilshire’s Miracle Mile.
Here’s a little background on the project.
[responsive_youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4df_jQXdOvY]This segment of the Berlin Wall is worth a visit, especially if you’re anywhere near LACMA anyway (it’s directly across Wilshire). During lunchtime, there is a long row of food trucks, making it a great spot to grab a bite and reflect on the changes we’ve seen in the past decades.
