It was a beautiful, clear day for the 23rd Annual San Clemente Seafest. The event included a battle for the best chowder, a surf contest, an arts and crafts exhibit and a business expo. My favorite parts were the chowder cook-off and the surf contest…oh, yeah, and of course, Captain Jack Sparrow.
There were some long lines at the Chowder booths. Among the contestants were OC Tavern,
San Clemente Elks Lodge, and the Beach Garden Cafe.
There were 16 competitors in all. Everyone had their favorite. Listen to this chowder connoisseur as he describes the ones he likes.
The surf contest was also fun. I don’t know much about surfing, but it was fun to watch.
The San Clemente Seafest offers an opportunity to walk on the pier, watch people and enjoy the sun and surf. What a fun event!
Sounds like fun! I was there last year and enjoyed the chowder competition. Wish I could’ve been there this time… but there’s always next year.
